Today's viewing is Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979).

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

My accompaning knitting: Fence by Maria Leigh. It looks like it will be a fairly quick project.

Comments about the film thus far:
- Kirk/Spock OTP
- Dr. McCoy looked like a total pimp when he first came aboard
- Spock is going through major acclimation issues. He's been away from humanity for too long.
- Spock looked hilariously incredible with the long hair.
- I really hope that whatever our version of the Earth Federation is will end up being will be HQ'd in San Francisco.
- TNG stole the entire soundtrack of this film.

I had a big Star Trek geek for a friend back in the college days. He managed to convince a few of us to attempt an all-night Star Trek movie marathon one boring evening when all the cool kids were out drinking (or whatever it was they did). We put the movies on one after the other. I made it through three of them before I went nuts and left.

Good times.

My friends and I used to do marathons every month in high school. You know, Batman, Superman, Star Wars, Star Trek (2, 3, and 4, which is considered a loose trilogy), Morricone westerns, Mighty Ducks. We were not cool kids. Nor did we pretend to be.
