Oh, and I did some more holiday yarn shopping at Wool & Co. in Geneva, IL.
BUT! I was good and only got yarn for patterns in my Ravelry queue.

Totally unrelated:
I am seriously flipping out over tomorrow's Doctor Who episode. Although I have to admit, I am more concerned about Jack, Gwen & Ianto, and Sarah Jane than I am about Ten's pseudo-regeneration or whatever may happen. Please don't let Sarah Jane die! ah! ;_;

I made the first one, Stella's Hat, today while at work. Very quick project, and I really like how it turned out. The yarn doesn't give much stitch definition (Knit Picks Swish Superwash) but it's light and you can wash it in a washing machine. Gotta like that. The second is a Twirly Top Toque from One-Skein Wonders. It's a great pattern, but not the best yarn for it. I still like it, though. I'm hoping the woman I knit it for likes it too. She probably will; she seemed pretty jolly. These bring me up to 34 projects this year. Hooray!

Now I'll leave you with the TILT I made yesterday and forgot about. Oops.

Well, after I post this.

This is the Parallelograms Scarf (no, really?) from Knitting New Scarves. The whole thing, 70 inches worth, only took two days to knit. What a lovely and quick project. I checked the book out from my local library and may-or-may-not-have copied a few patterns out of it ... but I caved in and ordered a copy fro Knit Picks. I mean, they're having a 40% off sale. Why wouldn't I? I also picked up the Harmony Guides: Cables & Arans book. I have a few scarf design ideas. I really really want to start designing my own patterns.

Next up is a hat or two for a commission. The story goes like this. Ever since I finished my thesis, I've been at a loss of what to do at my computer lab job. I mean, before, I could write and research. But now I just sit there for seven hours. So. I started hard-core knitting while on the job (hence so many FOs lately). A woman saw me knitting, and asked if I'd knit for her. Pssh, why not? Easy money! And motivation to use up my stash of yarn. So my first project is the Twirly Top Toque from One-Skein Wonders.

Now I'm off to watch some tentacle-filled-sci-fi-cartoon-action-adventure goodness!

That second picture may or may not be of me. I'll let you decide what you want to believe. This makes my 30th project, so I'm pretty close to the 33 mark and it's just hitting the half-way mark of the year. SO. I am upping the ante to 50. I think I can do it. 50 projects in 2008.

Also, I found amazing Futurama computer icons. Check it:
Al Gore's head is my Documents folder, because he clearly needed to be the most important thing on my computer. Bender is the downloads folder ("Warning, perform virus scan? I'm waiting for porn over here!!").
Morbo as my harddrive (just because he's awesome, as is my computer), Malfunctioning Eddy as my Windows partition (ooooo, burned Windows!), my external harddrive is the InfoSphere (seems logical), and Professor Farnsworth is my Time Machine drive ("So many loves half-loved. So many inventions half-invented. That damn time machine alone set me back 15 years.").

I have some other folders set with Futurama icons as well. My School folder is Wernstrum, my Knitting Patterns folder is Zoidberg (see my user icon for reference), and my Home folder is Clamps ("It'll be clamp this, clamp that, badda-climp badda-clamp!").

If you couldn't tell by my entry titles and constant references, I definitely am big enough of a Futurama freak to do this. And spend lots of time reasoning out who should be where and why. Now I'm off to watch "The Lost Adventure."

Here is a non-related project that I finished a few weeks ago but never got around to posting here:

This is Purl Bee's cashmere cowl, though not knit in cashmere. This is a handspun laceweight yarn I bought off of an etsy store. It's awesome. The color is gorgeous, and this picture is surprisingly close to the actual color. yay

I'm off to work on my thesis, so I may or may not disappear off the face of the internet for a few weeks.

Now I have six jars of strawberry jam.

It was a mix-and-freeze recipe ... I can't wait for it to thaw so I can have some on an english muffin. yummm

I've also been knitting:

My cousin and her husband had a baby last week (well I guess technically only she did, but from what I understand about procreation he played some sort of abstract role in the whole process), so I made a baby hat. I didn't want to make a lame cutesy one. I wanted it to be cool. Something the other babies would be jealous of. This still needs to be blocked, but you get the idea. I made it with Wisdom Yarns Marathon Socks in Boston on US 2.5 (3.00mm) dpns. I want to figure out an adult sized version. I'd wear it.

This evening I cast on for a pair of simple spring socks. I'm following the 7 sts per inch pattern from Getting Started Knitting Socks. I have a few things that are on the backburner too. I'm an ADD knitter, so?

I may or may not attempt a better picture of this sometime soon. I sat on this thing FOREVER because I HATE doing icord. HATE HATE HATE. Not even dislike, or strongly dislike. Hate. I also hate Kfb, especially on tiny needles. AAAAaaaaanyway, this is #18 of 33 if I'm counting correctly.

Go me.

Anyway, I'm posting because I finished my Tudora.

This was an incredibly quick knit, and it is so great. I will be wearing this a lot. And this is #17 of 33 in '08.

Back to the norm of small, easy projects. I think this one turned out a bit better than last time. I have been dreading the seaming of my sweater, especially since for some crazy reason the shoulders aren't lining up right. The front panels where the shoulders meet are thiner than the their back panel counterparts. I'm not sure how I'll fudge that. Everything else seems fine, though. 

Oh, and this is, I believe, #15 of 33. Go me.

I decided to make another squid. I can't remember if I mentioned this here or not, but I am working out a swap/trade with Gretchen Funk, one of the co-owners of the Triple Rock Social Club in MN. Triple Rock puts on lots of punk shows, and she has lots of old silk screened posters and show goodies that she has offered in exchange for amigurumis. Added bonus/fun fact: her husband is Erik Funk from Dillinger Four. So. She said because of her marital hookup that she could send me D4 stuff as well. All in all, total awesomeness.

So. She really liked the first squid that I made, so I made one just for her. I'm still not very good at the whole embroidery thing, but it's still pretty cute. I followed the gauge correctly this time, and this one is super tiny. It's about two inches tall, max. Seriously.

I'm also happy that I seem to have figured out my light tent settings. Those colors are pretty much spot-on. You have to love good photography. Lighting is soooo important.

Next up are a few raindrops, then to finish the cactus, and then some knitting. I have a stole to work on and I'd like to start a sweater. Maybe I should write my thesis, though ...
