Hey look, I finished another project! This is Quant from Knitty, which I started about two days ago. Now I want to make, like, eight more of them. It was so easy and mindless and quick to knit. I definitely suggest it to anyone, even beginners.

FO - quant

The cool thing is that you feel like you're doing really complex stitch work, and it looks like it too. But really you just pick up stitches here or there and work in mini-rows of six stitches. Oh, and I think the best part is that there is practically NO FINISHING. I HATE finishing.

Quant is made to be a head wrap, but you can easily take the entrelac stitch pattern and apply it to anything. I think instead of doing a full-out Danica I'm going to use this pattern so that it's skinnier. Also because I only have two skeins of Noro Kureyon, so I definitely do not have enough yarn for Danica proper.

The other nice thing about this project is that this is my #4 of 33 projects in 2008. Yay! If I can bang out four projects a month I'll be golden. I just got in a big order of yarn today from KnitPicks ... I went through their Swish DK and Merino Style and ordered some different colors so that I could make more amigurumi! I also ordered Swish Superwash so that I could make a Toasty Topper. I'm not sure who for, maybe Dr. E's baby son even though I made him a Pineapple hat. Eh, I'll figure something out. It's just too cute not to make. Maybe I can etsy it or something.

I started a Quant the other day, and here is where I got after some time last night:

WIP - quant

I love the way the color is showing up; it makes each little diamond look like a different yarn. Fun!

When working on the second diamond of section 1 I somehow dropped or picked up or SOMETHING two array stitches. Now I have to frog a bunch and figure out where to pick things back up and .... ugh. Not going to be fun. But at least I like the project and it seems like a quick knit.

I love how I get so obsessive about knitting to the point where I can't get any actual work done. Like my thesis. Or my book editing. Or studying for my masters proficiency exams.
