Check out what I made today:
What do you do when you get a crush on someone?
The last few days have been filled with music theory to degrees beyond most human comprehension. I liked it. Now I'm back to putting off the writing of my thesis by knitting.
Now quit pickin' your nose and knead that dough!
After class last night I went to pick up some groceries. I only meant to get soy milk and a new filter for my water pitcher, but there was a sale on frozen fruits. So I picked up a big bag of strawberries.

I cannot escape the clutches of Futurama.
As far as crafty stuff goes ... I did finish my sweater before the Equinox. Woo! It's blocking right now, but should hopefully be dry within the next day or two. I'm not all that happy with the collar or cuffs ... I might take them off and just do a garter stitch thing instead.
I also just started a Tudora from Knitty. It's been a quick knit so far, and I might have it finished tonight or tomorrow, depending upon how much other work I blow off in the process. Which, knowing me, will be a lot.
Man, I'm running out of episode titles that work for this. I'm going to have to find a new show ...
Hurry up, microwave, I'm in a hurry here! ... I worked on these projects while watching Futurama last night.
This is a wrap/stole thing I meant to give my mom for Xmas. It's so big, though, that it's taking me forever. If you can't tell from the majority of FOs I post here, I like small cute things. Not really big extensive things. Or big repetitive things. Which is what this is. But my oh my isn't that stitch pattern pretty.
This is a scarf for a friend of mine. I made him a K2P2 scarf using super bulky yarn way back two years ago or so when I had just started to knit. I'm pretty sure it was my first FO. And last week he lost it. Soooo I'm making a new one. It's a reversable rib alternating between rows of K3P3 and K1P1. Another repetitive blah project. But it's coming along quickly.
I'm finding now that my lighting is washing out the color of my yarn (in regards to my light tent for taking pictures). Maybe I need to move the lights further apart? Guess I'll try that next time. I wish I had more windows in my apartment so that I could just use daylight.
So I've been pretty frustrated with the fact that my crocheting is always inside-out and/or upside-down. I decided to consult YouTube to figure out what the deal was. My problem is/was that I tossed my yarn like I do when I knit (I guess that's English style vs. Continental? or something like that). Anyway, I decided to try the whole wrap the yarn around the fingers and take a go.
Look at what happened to my tension! Good god, it's like I went down a hook size. I mean, the result is a much cleaner and tighter looking stitch, but I suppose I should have tried out the transition on something that I wasn't intending on giving to someone. Now I get to do a good old ramen session and try to be more consistent.
I think I've gotten the whole tension thing down now, and now my projects don't turn out inside-out. But a poor cactus has been sacrificed in the process. Well, at least ten rows or so of a cactus. I have to try and salvage it.
Now it's time to answer some questions I know have been bugging you all. I hear you thinking:
So Emily, what do you do with your WIPs during their downtime? Doesn't your cat try to shred them to bits?
Answer: yes, yes he does. So I hide them up on my big bookshelf
This has proven effective thusfar.
So Emily, what do you do when your cat falls asleep next to you?
I put him in kid's sunglasses and take pictures. .... muaahaha ...
I mean ... he's just asking for it.
